1. Pick 15 of your favorite movies.
2. Go to IMDB and find a quote from each movie.
3. Post them in a note for everyone to guess.
4. Strike it out when someone guesses correctly, and put who guessed it and the movie.
5. NO GOOGLING/using IMDB search functions. That's cheating and it ruins the fun.Guess only one, please. Give everyone a chance, then guess more :)----This is what I'm doing...just in case you needed clarification.
1. I'm the world's most dangerous predator. Everything about me invites you in. My voice, my face, even my smell. As if I would need any of that. As if you could outrun me. As if you could fight me off. I'm designed to kill.
2.You were never there for me were you mother? You expected Mike and Carol Brady to raise me! I'm the bastard son of Claire Huxtable! I am a Lost Cunningham! I learned the facts of life from watching The Facts of Life! Oh God!
3. Juvenile delinquency is purely a social disease. R:" Hey! I got a social disease! "
4. Good. Should you leave these rooms, you will not by any chance go to sleep in any other part of the castle. It is old and has many bad memories. Be warned.
5. J: You remind of a babe
G: What babe?
J: The babe with the power.
G: What power?
J: The power of voodoo.
6. We're newlyweds. Just met. You know how it is. We bumped into each other, sparks happen...
7.In token of my gratitude and as a means of promoting communication between adjoining nations, shouting from windows being forbidden, I shall provide a post office in our hedge, to further incourage the bearing of our souls and the telling of our most appalling secrets. I do pledge never to reveal what I recieve in confindence here.
8. But there is no real me: only an entity, something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable... I simply am not there
9. Well I always thought that archaeologists were always funny looking men going around looking for their mommies.
10. The light concealing cream goes on first. Then you blend, and blend, and blend. Blending is the secret.
11. You're jokin', you're jokin'! / I can't believe my ears! / Would someone shut this fella up? / I'm drownin' in my tears! / It's funny, I'm laughing! / You really are too much. / And now, with your permission, / I'm going to do my stuff.
12. I may be a drape, but I love your granddaughter. And if that's a crime, I'll stand convicted, ma'am.
13. If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?
14. For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
15. A glooming peace this morning with it brings. The sun for sorrow will not show his head. Go hence and have more talk of these sad things. Some shall be pardoned, and some punished.
Some of these should be easier than others...I think

Fun things part quatro
Most of the time I like to mix it up in my classroom and do something fun. So last week we read the poem Jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol, if you haven't read it you should google it. It's some good reading it's also from one of my favorite books of all time Alice Through the Looking Glass.
Anyway....the poem is basically made up of nonsense words (portmanteau if you want to know the fancy English term for it) and I made my 10th graders make up their own poem/story like this and give me the dictionary terms for the words they made up. Most of them turned out pretty well...especially this one....
"Beware the Tutenstein. This creanimal has long talaws and sharp feeths.
Originating from Hagashain, a country in Western Europe, this creanimal can creep up on you and surtack you when you least expect it."
Tutenstein: English teacher who has a tendency to creep. Tutwiler + Frankenstein= Tutenstein
Creanimal: creature + animal
Talaws: talons + claws
Feeths: teeth + fangs
Hagashain: country in Western Europe
Surtack: surprise attack
It's by this girl, who likes to think that I'm a creeper when in reality she is the one who creeps around my classroom and bugs me. She thinks it's pretty funny to pick on me and I accept this because she doesn't mean anything by it and she's a really good student. I just thought this poem was funny.
In other news...my students sent me 12 'candygrams' today...I would say about 9 of them said 'from your stalker' and the other 3 actually said Merry Christmas. Needless to say, my students are a bunch of strange children who stalk me. But....it could be worse.

I've been around...
Christmas break is near....
Finals are due this week...along with the final review; have I started writing them? Nope.
I would like to go back to college because I want to get my masters and I want to study German.
I get to see my family soon, which is more exciting than I originally thought! I'm finding that as I get older I realize how important they are especially since we live so far away. And getting married next year means I'll have to split my time between families (if jeff ever visits extended family) and I don't want to miss out on family time.
The reason I haven't been updating is because of school and Stephenie Meyer, yes that is right...I'm on the whole Edward/Bella love wagon. It's horrible, I know, but she does a really good job at writing. Except I have to say the first book trumps the others, the others are just sort of fillers I think.
Anyway, I'm off to church.
It's a random update but an update none the less!!

Things I want for Christmas...from Etsy
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_12&listing_id=17653453- It's a JPEG file that you can print over and over again and use it as many times as you want. Here is why I want it: because I love Alice in Wonderland, I think vintage is amazing and someday when I have a girl I want to decorate her room with Alice in Wonderland stuff!
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_15&listing_id=17248802- More Alice
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_15&listing_id=17640613 - Mad Hatter
http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=sr_list_13&listing_id=17078239- Teacher locket
Really I just love Alice in Wonderland!!! AND I know some family members have viewed this blog, so get your ideas here :)
I also just made my first purchase on Etsy, it's an Alice in Wonderland pendant, and a giraffe pendant (for Jeff's mom for Christmas) and I got a free one (it was a buy 2 get one free deal!) and I got that for Jenna for Christmas. Basically, I think I just started a VERY bad habit....

Speechless
I'm a first year teacher. I should be naive and believe that all my students are well behaved; they don't cheat on tests, they don't think about sex or drugs or alcohol. But I'm far from naive because I have seen it all; I have friends who did drugs (some who still do), who have problems with alcohol, who sleep around ...all of it. And I know in today's day in age kids are getting younger and younger to explore these temptations.
BUT, and I mean this a big BUT, I don't think that I should sit idly by and watch my students hate on each other or do things that will harm themselves. My students have become increasingly 'evil' towards each other; almost on a daily basis I have a student coming into my classroom crying and saying how somebody made fun of them. I just can't take it anymore; my students are so hateful towards each other it makes me sick. It's mostly the girls, which is understandable because girls are evil, but we go to a Christian school. I would think that someone would have told them before that being hateful to each other is wrong but I guess they haven't received that message. Even if we were in a public school setting I would say something to them, but I think being at a Christian school they are held to an even higher standard of morals. I don't know. I am going to have all the girls meet in my room for lunch tomorrow to discuss all of this. I'm tired of students coming to me crying, telling me someone was mean or that they are scared that someone is hurting themselves.
I can't sit by and watch this happen. Not when I've already seen it happen to so many other people.
Am I wrong to try to fix this?

Purity Ceremonies?
Has it really come to the point where we have to have a ball/gala if you will so that our daughters will stay a virgin until marriage? I don't think that buying a fancy dress, learning an elaborate dance, and receiving a ring will make the temptation any less severe as they grow older. What ever happened to sex education? I'm not saying that it isn't realistic to stay a virgin until you get married but statistically kids today are having sex at a younger age. It is time to face facts and realize we have to do more than give our girls rings to protect their virginity. I know PLENTY of girls my age and younger who walk around flaunting their purity rings one minute and talking about how they had sex just last night the next.
The whole reason I came up with this topic is because of crappy television on TLC. But here is the biggest issue I have with all these people and their purity ceremony.
A) They say that if you do not grow up with a father you will turn to another man and give bits of your heart away until you do not have your whole heart to give to your 'soul' mate.
-I've dated plenty of guys and my heart has healed after each of them, I plan on giving my whole heart to Jeff...not just the parts left over from past relationships.
-I believe this implies that girls who grow up without fathers are more likely to have sex before marriage then girls with fathers. I call BS on that. I have a father but he was not around a lot when I was growing up (he would admit this himself) but my mother did a wonderful job explaining what is right and what is wrong according to what we believe. And, I didn't turn to other males to fill the void of my dad always being at work...that would be stupid, no one can replace your own father. And having sex with some random guy doesn't fill any void that an absent father creates, at least not in my eyes.
B) Every single person they interviewed said they weren't even going to kiss anyone until marriage. They don't even date anyone who isn't a possible candidate for marriage. This one girl didn't even hold her fiance's hand!!!!
-I really don't think God said anything about kissing in the bible. Am I wrong? And I'm pretty sure that God made no rule about hand holding. What unrealistic ideas to feed your children. Kissing isn't wrong, holding someone's hand isn't wrong and neither is dating. How can you expect to find the right person without even getting to know several people? You don't have to sleep with someone in order to get to know them. These people are so confusing. Crazy crackers.
I just don't even know what is wrong with these people. I understand why parents are concerned about their children having sex at a young age, I get it. I know that parents are concerned about STDs and teenage pregnancies but there are other ways to prevent that. My issue is that the more you shelter and confine your children the more they will want to break out of that mold. I've seen it so many times, even in my own family. Children are going to want to have sex, or kiss, or hold hands...it's human nature and it's wrong to deny that. Putting a ring around your daughter's finger isn't going to make her stay pure...your education on the matter will.
And don't be a stinkin weirdo about hand holding or kissing, that is just plain old bizarre.
P.S. I found the father's to be extremely creepy...the way they hovered over their daughters and talked about them...gross.

More politics
Every where I go someone is talking about the election and I'm simply annoyed by it all. I've been following the campaigns, watching the news, looking at propaganda and 'hate' advertisement but enough is enough. I can't wait until Tuesday is over, I never want to watch a presidential election again. The biggest reason is because people are idiots and they never know what they are talking about. If I have to hear one more person say ' well my dad likes McCain but we don't agree' or something like that I'll shoot myself in the knee cap! The second biggest reason I don't like about this election are the candidates, well maybe this should be my first reason but whatever. Both candidates have major flaws, neither of them excite me, and most importantly neither of them will make a good president. People talk about Obama's inexperience but what experience does McCain have as a great leader????? What experience does any presidential candidate have? If you've never been the president then how can you be experienced, I mean really??!!! I understand that McCain has life experience and yadda yadda but he's not a strong leader; neither is Obama.
I wish we could just start over; America has to have something better to offer. I'm sure most people would disagree with me, but I know I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
I would like to have a president who would fight for morals and values that Americans haven't had in a long time. I'm not advocating that the president should impose a certain religion upon this country but just have some sort of moral judgment. When I hear a 10 year old talk about oral sex, or an 8th grader talk about getting high and see a 16 year old having babies then something is wrong. If our children are the future then what kind of future are we getting set up for? I certainly don't want my children to have sex in junior high or get drunk or high or anything I didn't even THINK about when I was that age. In fact, I don't even know if I want to raise children in this kind of society; I'm afraid for children today. And it isn't just children, it's adults too! There is a whole website called "The real housewives of Collin county" where they talk about people behind their backs, and discuss how great of 'partiers' they are...ridiculous! Do these ladies really need to share their lives through blogging? But I guess I do the same thing, except I don't gloat about the fact that I party 'good'. (I don't have children and I'm 22 years old so I guess that makes me a little more mature)
I don't know what's going to happen Tuesday and I don't know what will happen after Tuesday. But I hope that some type of GOOD change will happen rather then just any kind of change.
